Looking for the best container moving price ? Things to consider :
- Its not always cheap, hugely depends on where you are moving from and to. If you moving within the same state, It may always be cheaper to go with an intra-state removalist unless you are in Queensland, or you have your own container and are NOT looking to hire one (more on this later).
- If you are moving interstate, from one city to another, then this might be the best solution for you for 2 reasons: 1.) Because there is a rail depot near every city in Australia(refer to the map above for all the intermodal terminals that are there and we have access to all these). 2.) Because it’s not that difficult to get access to shipping containers that can be dehired to another state or city as return transport costs of the empty container back to the origin could add up very quickly.
- If you have your own container, then half of your troubles are solved, or almost. Now you will still need to see where you are moving from and to and where the intermodal depots are located. If there are no rail depot or service in that direction (refer to the map above) then the movement will have to be done via a truck all the way and this too could add up the costs very quickly. Cost of lifting it off the ground, putting it onto a semi, then lifting it off etc and finding some trucking company that could actually do it on a good backload price.
- If there are rail depots nearby and you have your own container, then now you are in luck. You just need a price and a good carrier that could move it for you. All you need to now is to make sure that your container is fit to travel on rail (CSC Certification is valid) and a price that works for you then things are ready to roll. You can email a picture of your container to [email protected] and we can advise or provide a certification if it requires one.
- If I live far in the country and moving a long distance, say Country New South Wales to Country WA, is hiring a container the right solution for me ? Well maybe, it’s a case by case basis. First of all, if you are hiring a container, it will have to be delivered from to you from the nearest seaport which will be Sydney for NSW(Not Newcastle, which has a seaport but they only deal with bulk commodities and not shipping containers) and will have to be returned to the nearest seaport in WA which is Perth (again Perth because all other ports in WA deal with bulk commodities only Perth or Fremantle deals with shipping containers) and in some cases these amounts could add up fairly quickly depending on how far it will have to be trucked and this is just the supplying and recovering of the empty container for hire. In some cases, we could supply a C grade cargoworthy container for a low price of $1500+GST. What this does is you get to keep the container for storage purposes and don’t have to pay for the return transport at the end of the move.
